France Boasts of Many Historic Monuments

Arc du Triomphe is a popular monument in Paris and is built in honour of soldiers who fought for France and died during the Napoleonic and Revolution wars. It is located at the western end of the famous shopping avenue, the Champs-Élysées. The 50 metres high monument is designed by architect, Jean Chalgrin. A flame is lit at the site every evening as a mark of respect to the soldiers.



Château de Chambord



It is the largest château in the Loire Valley, and is believed to be designed by Leonardo da Vinci. Château de Chambord was used as a hunting lodge by Francois I in the early 14th century. Places to see include the facade and rooftop, the guardroom, the double helix staircase, state apartments and the surrounding forests.

It is one of the largest and important Gothic buildings in Europe. The frescoes and interior decorations are the main attractions. The palace of the Popes organises many cultural activities such as classical music concerts and art exhibitions, throughout the year.
